Ways to target, ways to grow: Special sections

Which consumers do you want to see your promotional message? Gardeners? Mariners fans? Travelers thinking about a European vacation? Once you have your answer, let The Seattle Times and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspapers help you reach your target audiences. We will produce more than 100 special sections publishing throughout 2007, giving your message a new level of relevance while positively associating your brand with the community you serve.

These marketing solutions stand out by enabling readers to easily locate the content they want alongside the ads they need to make buying decisions. Each section's content is expertly written around a single theme of keen interest to our readers and often saved for future reference, maximizing your ad's impression.

Here's a sampling of upcoming sections:

Build sales this spring by reaching women in the next issue of Gender: F , the savvy Northwest woman's guide to doing, making, looking and feeling good. Targeting females is a smart marketing decision: studies indicate that more than 80 percent of women identify themselves as the principal shopper in their household. In 2006, those households commanded more than $74 billion in retail spending.

Given the popularity of the section, Gender: F now publishes as a stand-alone supplement to Sunday's widely-read Pacific Northwest magazine. The tabloid magazine format attracts readers with its upscale look and high-quality color reproduction. The March 18 issue of Gender: F will feature a variety of topics to interest women of all ages, including a special focus on weddings and commitments.

If you're looking to reach throngs of travelers heading east or west, our two upcoming Sunday travel sections will help. Readers thinking about getting away regularly turn to one of the best travel sections in the country as recognized by the Society of American Travel Writers. On Feb. 25, the talented group of writers, editors and photographers turn their attention to Travel: Europe. This edition focuses on one of the most popular destinations for Northwest travelers, a continent that more than 360,000 Western Washington adults visited in the last three years. Those looking to escape to an island paradise will read and hang on to the Travel: Hawaii section, appearing March 11. Space reservations for both issues are due five days prior to publication.

Special opportunities await those interested in reaching jet-set adults with the recent unveiling of the Travel wrap. This wrap, also known as a gatefold, makes your ad the first thing readers see when they turn to the Travel section. Your exclusive full-color ad placement covers nearly half of the front page and is the only position of its kind in the Sunday news pages. As the sole advertiser on the wrap, you're certain to command the full attention of nearly one million Sunday readers.

Reach an upscale audience interested in home design with your ad in the Architecture 2007 issue of Pacific Northwest magazine on Sunday, April 8. The architecture issue is a great venue for designers and builders, plumbers and engineers along with other construction-related suppliers. Intriguing articles showcasing innovative local buildings and architects will be read by an audience with household incomes 21 percent higher than average Western Washington adults, creating an ideal environment for advertising any top-of-the-line merchandise. The section deadlines March 13.
