Washington, D.C., reporter

The Seattle Times, Washington State’s largest newspaper and most-visited newspaper Web site, is looking for a talented, enterprising reporter to staff our Washington, D.C., bureau. We’d like someone with regional reporting experience who can write for our readers, not for the D.C. pack.

Candidates must be able to work independently and communicate effectively; the editor is three time zones away. We’re home to Microsoft and a large Boeing workforce, so business reporting experience is a plus. Knowledge of the Northwest is desirable. We want someone who can break news and produce well-crafted enterprise pieces about the people, politics and issues important to our readers. At least five years of metro-daily reporting experience and two to three years reporting experience in D.C. is preferred.

E-mail resume, clips and cover letter outlining your approach to regional coverage of Washington, D.C., to newsjobs@seattletimes.com. Direct inquiries to Richard Wagoner, politics editor, at rwagoner@seattletimes.com. Family-owned and independent, The Seattle Times is a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper dedicated to serving its community with quality journalism. The Seattle Times is a drug-free workplace.

Even if there is no position open in your field, you are invited to file your resume and clips with us. We keep them in our database, which we refer to when jobs open in the newsroom and seattletimes.com.

We appreciate your interest in working at The Seattle Times.

The Seattle Times is a drug-free workplace.
