COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENTThe Seattle Times is proud to play a role in supporting and shaping our region. Our company roots run deep in the Puget Sound community. Since 1896, when the newspaper was founded by Colonel Alden Blethen, the Blethen family has made community involvement central to the mission of The Seattle Times. Our community support reflects many of the things we value as a company. Focusing on key areas allows The Seattle Times to make a significant impact on our community. Each year, The Seattle Times contributes substantial direct financial support through our Corporate Giving program, and in-kind advertising and other resources through our Sponsorship program. With our Fund For The Needy, support of United Way and other community partnerships, The Seattle Times is helping to strengthen organizations and support activities that make our region special and enhance the quality of life for all who live here.
