CORPORATE GIVING

Budgets for 2012 are limited; we are not accepting new grant applications at this time.

The Seattle Times Corporate Giving program provides funding to appropriate organizations and causes. Unlike our Sponsorship program, exposure for The Seattle Times is not part of the criteria.

The Seattle Times relies on federated groups such as United Way to leverage our dollars and meet a broad array of community needs. We then identify a narrow focus for our remaining funds.

Requirements for applicants include:

  • Must qualify as 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization
  • Must be located in the state of Washington

Proposals for funding should:

  • Reflect the company's key focus areas
  • Demonstrate broad-based funding support
  • Reflect the community's diversity
  • Demonstrate effective use of financial and human resources
  • Have a measurable impact
  • Support capital drives or specific program objectives

Funding restrictions include:

  • Debt retirement or to cover operating deficits
  • Support to or for designated individuals, team sponsorships or travel expenses for groups
  • Religious organizations for sacramental or theological functions

Other relevant information:

Our support of K-12 education is provided through our Newspapers In Education (NIE) program.

After reviewing these guidelines, if you feel your organization qualifies for funding, grant requests can be e-mailed to communitysupport@seattletimes.com or mailed to: Community Support, The Seattle Times, PO Box 70, Seattle, WA 98111. Requests are reviewed quarterly; please allow 90 days for a decision.
