SHIFTING INTO OVERDRIVE

On March 6, 2000, The Seattle Times became a morning newspaper. Acknowledging our diminishing ability to buck the trend for a morning newspaper, we decided to make this major change.

Instead of delivering newspapers by 5:30 p.m., we gave ourselves a new deadline of 5:30 a.m.

Instead of resting on our reputation as the country's best afternoon newspaper, we decided for the sake of our future to enter the morning competition.

We're pursuing higher goals with a firm belief in our talent and determination. We're giving ourselves greater challenges so we can achieve greater accomplishments.

History will tell how well we did.
