Seattle Times Names New Associate Opinions Editor.
Sharon Pian Chan has been named the new associate opinions editor/digital for The Seattle Times, effective May 29. She also becomes a member of the newspaper’s editorial board, which determines the board’s policy positions.

Seattle Times To Launch Tablet and Smartphone Editions.
The Seattle Times announced today that it will launch tablet and smartphone editions in late April. These new products will bring to market a significant component of The Times’ overall strategy to provide relevant content for people how, when and where they want it.

Seattle Times publisher Frank Blethen announced new responsibilities for two key Times leaders, Ryan Blethen and Kate Riley.
Ryan Blethen, associate publisher and editorial page editor, will fill the company’s newly created role of director, new product strategies, leaving his role as Seattle Times editorial page editor. Kate Riley, currently associate editorial page editor, will be promoted to editorial page editor. Both assignments are effective January 1, 2012.
