A GUIDE TO SUBMITTING DIGITAL ADS

Postscript settings

Critical first steps

Remember: How your Postscript file is created will determine if the job will reproduce in the newspaper properly.

  • Make sure you've installed the full version of Acrobat 4.0 Distiller (or higher) and Exchange on your system.
  • Set up your system to produce a complete postscript file that includes images, fonts, and the correct page information.
  • When setting up your Chooser, use the Acrobat Distiller PPD (MAC users only).
  • Open the desktop publishing program and choose "Page Setup". Make a custom page size that matches your document size. This will avoid extra space around the outside document.
  • Select "Print", using the Acrobat Distiller PPD set up for high resolution printing. Embed all fonts.
  • Choose the specific color information. Set printer to "Grayscale" if it's a black/white ad or "All Colors" if your ad has color. Be sure to save the Postscript file(.ps) file.
  • Open Acrobat Distiller to convert the Postscript file to a PDF.
